the fun has arrived!

My camera came in this morning. It is a Canon ESO digital Rebel T1i. Hayden let me take a few shots of him. They aren't amazing but pretty good considering it was my first shot at it and there isn't any editing done to it.

black friday has struck again

well black friday came and went. Paul and I found a camera online and we really wanted it so when we went to WM at 6 when paul got off work, we only bought one thing... legos for Hayden. Then we got home and bought that beautiful, wonderful, amazing, expensive camera!! Now to wait 1 to 2 weeks for it to arrive. I want to start up a photography business to pay for it, I took a photography class in 2004 with my sister and I've loved it ever since, now I just hope I can recall all that I learned! So I'm going to practice practice practice.

weening

we weened Hayden from the pacifier this week. His pacifier was so old that it started getting sticky, so we bought some more but he wouldn't take the new one so we just continued the old one until Monday when he bit a hole in it. So I'd give him that one and when he decided he didn't like it he'd throw it, so I gave him the new one and he'd throw that one too, so I just said well its time for him to be done anyway... Monday night he went all night without needing it, all day tuesday without it, and last night without it. He's been a little cranky today but not nearly as bad as I expected and he sleeps better and longer without it. Man I'm glad this has been sooooo easy so far. I couldn't ask for it to be better!

He's getting better everyday at walking. He only falls down when he gets so excited and tries to run. He's all over the place!! It's so fun though, I can finally take him in our backyard and just let him cruise!

Also our Xbox should be arriving soon! We shipped it out 2 weeks ago and when we filled out the stuff online to get the shipping sticker thing it said total cost $0.00!! So we are really hoping that we don't get a surprise bill in the mail.

Paul's still recovering well, still soar and in pain, but he doesn't complain. A lot of times I say "glad to see you're feeling better" because of how he's acting and he says I'm not I just wanted to tickle you... ha ha! Ever since the surgery he's had a swollen soar throat and can't really taste anything. We made a follow up appt with the surgeon's office and today they called to see how he's recovering and he told them about the no taste and such and he found out that he has THRUSH!!! ugh.... first the flu, then the surgery, now this!! Poor Paul! But at least they got him a RX that we'll pick up today so he'll be all better. They said sometimes, but rarely, thrush happens after surgery.... and I said yeah rarely, like how its rare to get a spinal headache after an epidural, yet I got one... our family has bad luck with anesthesia!

well he had his surgery at 10 am, it was delayed for some reason, and he was out by noon. He's in recovery and in pain, but much less than before the surgery. They've got him on pain meds and he's sleeping a lot. Thank you for the prayers and support!!

procrastination to get things done

there's nothing like procrastinating doing a paper to get the X box fixed. paul had a paper to write the other day, but of course he didn't want to start it, so he registered the X box instead and we are going to send it in soon!

lost, stolen? No, just forgotten

A few days ago I was outside pulling hayden around in his wagon and I decided to take some pictures. Well after I was done I set the camera on the hood of paul's truck. Forgot about it and now its probably in some random passer-by's hands. I just hope they are enjoying the adorable pictures of my sweet hayden in his wagon. Yes we did go looking for it, but so many people go running and such down my street so its long gone. I guess we needed a new one anyway.... any suggestions?

beans beans the magical fruit

Thursday Tiffany was so kind as to show me how to can some beans using a pressure cooker. It sure takes a long time but it is well worth it!! I'd have pictures but well.... see next post. So thank you so much Tiffany, I am very grateful!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday!!! Hayden turned 1 today! Yesterday we had a party for him at the park.

Lots of awesome gifts!

The frosting fell off before he got it so it made for easier clean up. He sure loved his cake!

Grandma and Grandpa Clites came into town last night around 7 and they brought Hayden Lightning McQueen!! He pushes it all over the place and loves to press all the buttons!

Thank you everyone for coming and for the awesome gifts, he loves them all!!

Some things Hayden loves:
Pushing things around and walking behind them, or crawling if its short, like a toy of his.
Pulling up onto my legs when I'm cooking or washing dishes.
Sneaking into Jason's room and exploring.
Being on the lap of the person on the computer.
Pulling all of the movies out of the drawers and throwing them.
Crawling real fast to get to the refrigerator before it closes.
Opening the cupboards and playing with its contents.
Eating Geber Graduates cheese puff things.
Nursery (we are leaders)
Playing peek a boo from behind the couch.
Horsey rides on my back.
Being outside.
screaming random sounds.
Oh we love our Hayden!! I can't believe its already been a year!

Tickle those ivory keys

Hayden loves the piano. He will just sit up there for 10 minutes or more just pounding away.

Taryn let me borrow a little walking toy. He pushes this thing all over the house! He can turn really well and will just go and go.

sock monkey

Yesterday I made a sock monkey. I found directions a while ago and thought it was such a cute idea so I found some socks at WM and got sewing. The socks were up to the knee so it has some long limbs!

I found the directions at http://www.craftbits.com/project/sock-monkey

happy sewing!

Excited!!

I'm really excited about a few things right now. First of all I'm excited that Paul was moved from an alternate in the nursing program to being accepted. I'm also excited that the class he took this summer term (Medical Dosage Calculations), which he had to pass with at least a 90%, he passed with a 92%! I'm excited that the WIA* program is trying to get extra funding for nursing students so we might just get into that too!! We are keeping our fingers crossed! I'm also excited because we got approved for food stamps which will save us sooooo much money. I'm excited that in 2 years Paul will be an RN!! Also that we can appeal and maybe get financial aid! WOOOO!!

Also we went yard selling yesterday and this one yard sale had like 5 car seats for sale so we looked them over and the lady explained them and we got one that is an all in one. From newborn until they don't need to be in a car seat anymore.... for $20! Its in super nice condition. We washed it all up and we love it!!

*WIA is a program that will pay for your tuition, books, scrubs, shoes, stethescope (sp?), and pay for gas and hotel for all out of town clinicals.

couponing

I am so excited right now I just had to post this. Marie talked to me a little about coupons last week and I started looking into it to see what I could find. On Walgreens website I saw their ad had coupons for Ajax soap and Ajax cleaning powder. The soap was BOGO and the powder was 3/.99! So I got 2 bottles of soap and 3 things of powder Ajax and only spent $3!! Also on the website that Marie suggested it said wait until things are on sale to use your coupons to maximize your savings... well Bashas is having a sale 3/.99 on Beech Nut baby food and I found a $2 off of 20 coupon! Also I had $10 on my food stamps card and saved $10 with my bashas card. Making my total out of pocket spending 0.03!! (it was for the tax on the coupon or something) I can't believe this! I thought I was doing pretty well on saving by not buying the expensive brands etc... But MAN!! Also Walgreens has a coupon for soy or milk based formula (25 oz can) for 9.99!! Thats a $15 savings! I couldn't believe that when I saw it! I'm just starting to learn, but I'm already addicted!

Thank you Marie!

23 already!!

Happy Birthday to me!! I turned 23 on Monday! I had an awesome birthday that really started on Thursday. Kaitlyn and Taryn took me out to lunch (taryn went on vacation so we did it sooner) Then I had an awesome camping trip weekend. Then my day started with Paul getting me chocolate doughnuts! Then he shoved one in my face...

Here is my cake :D
And here is Paul decorating it, not too bad I'd have to say!

For lunch Michele, Marie and Tiffany all took me out to lunch (How awesome are my girlfriends!) and we had a blast!
My brother and his Fiance Emily got me a bag of goodies! It was 2 yummy smelling candles, a candle warmer and some awesome fruit smiles!!! Thanks guys!
And of course I got a call from all my family (some on top of others!) and Paul's parents sent me money!!
That night Brian, Marie, and Paul cooked up some yummy ribs and we ate the cake and some homemade ice cream! Paul got me some kitchen stuff... a meat mallet, a meat thermometer, a barbeque sauce brush, and a tomato slicer! All of which I have needed for a while! YAY!! It was such a good birthday I had a great time! Thank you to everyone!

Accepted!!

Paul applied to get into the nursing program for fall 2009. He got a letter that he was going to be an alternate. That was one of the main reasons we ended up going to Seattle. Last night paul came and woke me up and said he got an email saying some people decided not to take their spots and he was chosen to be accepted! We are so incredibly excited and blessed that this has happened!! YAY! GO PAUL!!

Independence Day Campout

All of our Pima friends decided to go up to Don and Robin's cabin on Mt. Graham for the weekend. It was a lot fun! Most of the couples arrived Thursday evening. We arrived Friday evening, right after it finished raining up there. We set up camp and hung out. That night it rained most of the night and it seemed no one slept well. Saturday the boys went fishing, and Paul caught 3 fish! Sorry I forgot to take a picture of that. We hung out most of the day and then had a pot luck dinner with all of the other cabins. It started raining pretty hard and lightning pretty loud. Paul and I just grabbed our food and headed back to the cabin. On our way back lightning struck this tree...

See where the bark is missing? Yeah it landed right in front of us. We couldn't have been more than 20 or 30 feet away from this tree when it happened. It was scary and really loud! We slept well that night and most everyone else seemed to also. Sunday morning everyone started packing before church and then everyone ran over to a near by cabin and this is what we saw...

That black fuzz by Beckie's head in the middle of the picture... it was a bear.

That's about it. It was my first time staying the night in a tent (that wasn't in my backyard) and I'd have to say I'd do it again!

Hayden/ birthday/ leaky tub/ Paul's new job/ home

Hayden turned 9 months old. He had his check up weighing in at a lighter-than-expected 21.06 lbs and 29 1/2 inches. He's sitting up great and eating solids great. He has 2 teeth that popped up the 2nd week of may and I've tried giving him some finger foods, but he just plays with them. Someday I suppose. He had a flu shot at his check up and now Paul has the flu.... go figure. Also it's official, Hayden's a crawler now. On June 25th he decided to get up on his knees and make his way to our laptop. He was really cute and it is about time. Now I have to pay more attention to the floor instead of the countertop. He's not all pro yet but probably by next week he will be. Sorry I haven't taken any pictures but they will come soon.

That same day (the 25th) was also my brother Jason's birthday! He's 21!! I threw together just a little small something for him. A cake, candles, and well come cheap gift from the dollar store.... it's the thought that counts right? It was fun just Paul, Hayden, Jason and I.

Well after 2+ years of having a leaky bathtub faucet (I'm talking multipul drips per second) and after nagging Paul for about a week, he called up his good buddy Jordan (who somehow know's how to do everything Paul doesn't) and today they got it fixed!!! I'm am so happy I could scream! That will seriously save us at least 10$ a month on our water bill! I'm trying to figure out how to save us money left and right, now that Paul is the only one working. I made this awesome dinner (Thank you Jen for that awesome Sweet Potatoes recipe)and I was glad that Jordan was still here for it... I feel like I owe him so much. I made him cookies too.

Paul now works at Infinia... for those non locals, its a nursing home. He likes it there a lot and enjoys the residents there. He hates how some of his coworkers don't treat the residents like they are people and ignores their call lights. I'm proud of him. There's no way I could do what he does all day. It feels nice to know we will get a check this week.

It feels nice to be home. It was fun getting to know new people up there and seeing new states. Our apartment was the 4th floor west facing one with vaulted ceilings. Sound great right? Well the view sure was, but the fact that we had an extra window high up without window treatments and no A/C wasn't great. It was so hot all the time and there was no escaping it. No way I could have lasted there all summer. It was fun while it lasted but there's no place like home.

Seattle has come to an end. We made it home safely. Here's a few pictures from the last few days up there.

of course we had to go to the space needle!
Isn't he just the cutest thing!

The wives all took a trip to the zoo

Most of the animals were asleep, but as soon as one wasn't, then Hayden was.

This was at a park by the river.
So it was really fun up there but we decided it wasn't our cup of tea.

Hayden 8 months

Mr. Hayden Bugg is 8 months old... for a few days now. He has 2 teeth and is doing that rocking thing before crawling. He loves to stand up by the couch and play with his stacking cups. He loves taking a bath in the big tub with toys and splashing the water. He enjoys watching Spongebob and going for walks around the apartments. He loves to flirt with all the wives that adore him.

He makes this funny face and laughs and he snorts while he does it. Very funny!!

Here's his little teeth! the first one came in on my mom's birthday May 11 and the second popped up on the 27th.

Ain't he a cutie!

we made it to the city

On Sunday we went to the city for a afternoon of fun! We went to a fish market and there were a bunch of different shops and some fish stands where you buy fresh fish and they throw it to the guy behind the counter for packing and weighing. It was pretty sweet... I didn't get pictures of that but here are some that I did get.

The bridge from Mercer Island to Seattle

Safeco stadium with Mount Rainier in the background

I just got the sky needle (or whatever its called) in the shot
We had a really good time, we carpooled with 4 other couples and it was a lot of fun!

tooth

Hayden's first tooth finally popped up on the bottom yesterday!! He was awake every couple hours sunday night and since him and I are both sick we thought that was the deal, but then yesterday afternoon I spotted that little guy!! YAY!! I just hope he doesn't bite :O

Seattle BABY!!

Well we made it safe and sound to our new temporary home. We are in Renton Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Here are a few pictures from our journey...

This picture is from Oregon

This is the mountains right before the Seattle valley. It rained the whole time we were in them. It was so pretty!

We ran into a storm in Idaho and when I turned around I saw this rainbow.... a few minutes later another one came to make a double rainbow. The second one is faint on the left, barely visible.

This is the Great Salk Lake

The dining room in our apartment... the stairs go to the loft

view of the living room from the loft

view our our living room window! SOOOO Pretty.... Lake Washington. That across the way is Mercer Island.
We left monday night and stayed in phoenix. The next day we made it to Spanish Fork and stayed with my sister Wendy. We went out to dinner and got to see Paul's brother Kevin who is going to BYU. Paul had a cold this whole trip so when we got to Wendy's house we decided to stay there a little longer than planned. Instead of leaving at 5 am we left at noon so paul could stay in front of the humidifier longer. We made it to Baker City Oregon and decided to get a motel room. After taking Nyquil and getting a good nights rest, he felt a lot better and we left around 8 am. We arrived at our new home around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.
Today is paul's first day selling. I'll update how that goes later. We are on the 4th floor and there are no elevators. so we will have strong legs after we leave here. We also don't know where we are supposed to park. We were a little discouraged after getting here but now that we are a little settled in, we are good to go! I hope paul doesn't get too discouraged with selling, I know he'll do great though!!
